Emily Dunlap is a maker of objects. Born and raised in Waterloo, Illinois, Emily received her BFA in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She works obsessively in process and quantity, spinning her own metaphors with scenes from her rural upbringing, pushing to find universalities in these unique moments. Her active involvement in the St. Louis art community pushed her to pursue her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from Syracuse University. This opportunity has gained her valuable experience, such as traveling to Berlin, Germany for an artist residence, exposure to the New York art scene and time to refine her art practice. She has been artist-in-residence at the Jentel Arts Foundation near Sheridan, Wyoming and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She currently teaches Sculpture, Design and Art History at South Western Illinois College.
